Jen and I did some bookshelf purging over the weekend. An old textbook on Issues in American Politics from the late 80's explored the following issues:
- Energy Vulnerability
- The Cost of Health
- Toxic Waste
- Crime
- Immigration
- The Arms Race
It's astonishing how little has changed over the past fifteen years in government.
But it did make me realize how efficient the private sector is at solving problems. I can't imagine shareholders ever tolerating this lack of progress.
I recently found an old essay I wrote in high school where we got to pick any important current issue.
I chose the "National Defecate."

Interesting choice. How do they measure that? .

Can't imagine shareholders ever tolerating this lack of progress? The nation's political has shareholders. The voting public! So the real question is - why do WE tolerate it? We're probably too busy buying luxury cars to care...
